Here are a range of pieces I made during the Covid-19 lockdown, advertising a show called Dungeness! Online art classes were definitely a different experience - there was a lot of sharing photos back and forth and about 100 different samples with tiny little edits. I was influenced by the Constructivist style and applied that to each piece.
My Poster Design - The first part of this project designed in the constructivist style
My Instagram Grid - Designed to show the pieces / style in use. I designed each of the 3 grid posts separately and then photoshopped them onto the instagram grid.
My Clothing Designs - The hoodies are merchandise in the three shades with a rainbow drawstring and embroidery on the sleeves. The shirt is a show shirt worn by Cast and Crew during rehearsals or advertising events to promote the show.
My work is the result of an investigation into advertising within theatre and production. I have created a poster for the play ‘Dungeness’, which follows the story of an LGBTQ+ teen safehouse, so it was important to reference this within the designs. I hinted at the pride theme with a small and subtle, but effective pride flag on the megaphone. My piece was inspired by different constructivist posters with their sharp lines and simplistic colour schemes. After creating the poster, I adapted it for three different aspects of production advertisement- some basic merchandise designs, a social media post and a ticket design. These designs each have a different function and I wanted to do this to further develop my design skills in different areas of advertisement.
