Speak Respect
Advertising / Photography Project
Within the UK we look through rose-tinted glasses of equality. Whilst marriage and adoption are afforded to LGBTQ+ persons, there are still problems facing the community. Inspired by homophobic language thrown at me when working behind a bar throughout university, Speak Respect is a campaign that exists to reposition Grindr into a positive light, reshaping their platform from a dirty taboo into a powerhouse for the entire queer community through their G4E (Grindr 4 Equality) initiative.
The OOH elements of this campaign are supported by a Pride centred tour through three large LGBTQ+ cities - Liverpool, Brighton and London. Alongside the “party”, a consistent theme of activism and providing a platform to come together runs alongside the tour. The tour also features homophobic branded merchandise, a video vlog style series from the headliners (all major UK drag queens), and even a coffee table “dick-tionary” of homophobic slurs.
